5 SEO Tips for event hosts - Part I

    June 2nd, 2009

Today we want to present our first guest article written by our SEO specialist Timon Hartung. Timon takes care of the search engine optimization regarding the amiando websites and the ranking of every single event website. So thanks to Timon, you can find your amiando event almost at anytime on top of the entries in Google.

And now he will share some SEO secrets with you but will also cover the SEO basics with his article.
The next 4 weeks he will post articles, lists and hints on how you can improve your event websites ranking.
    Enjoy!

    ===================

“Being found on the internet means getting listed on the major search engines like Google, Yahoo or live. But being listed by a search engine is not enough. You also have to rank well with your event website to be found more often and to generate more visitors and traffic. Search engines show their results based on keywords entered by the user and the most relevant websites to that keyword. The high rankings in the search engines are essential for you to get more visitors on your website and your event to sell more tickets or get more registrations.

Find the right keywords for your event and optimize these on your event website

  • Start a keyword list with keywords you think people will search for, when they want to attend your event.
  • Use given facts of your event and add these as keywords (e.g. event name, location name and address, date, event topic). Add the city and type of event as keyword as well example: New York conference or London Party
  • Go to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal to research your keyword list. Set the language and country to the language and country of the event or the main group of attendees.
  • Paste your existing keyword list into googles keyword tool and press go! Now you can evaluate and extend your keyword list as google will suggest even more keywords. Great keywords have many searches and less competition. Good keywords either have many searches or less competition and bad keywords have few searches and lots of competition.
  • In the keyword tool you can find a lot of keywords but they might not be relevant to your event so the most important rule of keyword research is “use your brain” and chose only relevant keywords.”
  • The next part of the article will deal with this topic: “On page optimization of your event website and keywords”.

Successful event promotion - viral marketing with amiando ViralTickets

    May 25th, 2009

Everybody is talking about it: Viral marketing, viral advertising, viral everything.

    What is viral marketing:
Wikipedia describes viral marketing as a marketing technique that uses pre-existing social networks to produce increases in brand awareness or to achieve other marketing objectives (such as product sales) through self-replicating viral processes.

But how can you use “viral effects” for your event? What if you could lower your advertising costs and increase your ticket sales with just one click?

That is exactly where amiando ViralTickets comes in place.

    Here is how it works:

  • You can offer your participants discount codes which reduce the ticket price for new participants. Of course it’s your decision how often a code works and how long it’s valid.
  • If one of your participants shares this code with others, he can get a discount, too. That’s why he will probably recommend your event more often.
  • This way, everyone will be happy:
Your new participant, who got the discount from a friend; the friend, who got a discount because of the recommendation and of course, you: Because you can source out your event promotion to your participants, save time and sell more tickets instantly.
  • Viral

If you’re already organizing your events with amiando, you can use our viral marketing system for your events without any additional costs. Try it now
